Your health. The complete picture. A way forward that’s yours.

The five steps of LIGHT.

L01

Step — Listen

First, we listen — deeply and deliberately.

You know your body better than anyone. Before we talk about hormones, treatment or next steps, we take the time to understand more of you: what has changed, what you are experiencing, your health history, your lifestyle, your well-being and what matters most to you.

What happens here

  • A comprehensive health intake, intentionally designed to understand more than the symptoms that brought you here.
  • Questions about your symptoms and how they have changed over time, alongside your medical and family history, medications, screening and reproductive health.
  • A deeper look at sleep, mood, cognition, lifestyle, behaviours, sexual and pelvic health, well-being, risks and priorities.
  • Space to tell us what matters in your own words. Take your time, pause and return whenever you need to.

Behind the step

Every question is there for a reason. Our intake is built around the information needed to create a clinically meaningful picture of your health. It is informed by current evidence and clinical guidelines, with each question designed to contribute to your assessment, identify relevant context or help surface areas that may deserve closer attention.

How long

Take the time you need. This is intentionally comprehensive and the time will vary. Complete it at your own pace, over one or more sittings.

I02

Step — Illuminate

We bring the information together, so you can see the bigger picture.

Perimenopause and menopause can show up in many different ways. Effica Clinical Intelligence™ brings together what you have shared: your symptoms, health history and other relevant health information, and helps make sense of it in the context of current evidence. When you complete your intake, you receive your Intake Insights, a clear, personalized reflection of what you shared and what may be important to explore further.

What happens here

  • Effica Clinical Intelligence™ brings together hundreds of health signals to help surface patterns, connections, risks and priorities.
  • You receive personalized Intake Insights that help you see your symptoms and health information together, not as disconnected pieces.
  • Before you meet, your clinician receives a detailed analysis of your health information, examined against current evidence and clinical guidelines to surface patterns, connections, risks and areas that may deserve closer attention.
  • Effica Clinical Intelligence™ doesn't replace clinical judgment. It gives your clinician more information, more context and more intelligence to bring to it.

Behind the step

Effica Clinical Intelligence™ is grounded in current evidence and leading menopause guidance, including the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), Canadian Menopause Society, The Menopause Society, and International Menopause Society.

How long

Your Intake Insights are available as soon as you complete your intake, so you can review them before your appointment and return to them whenever you choose.

G03

Step — Guide

A plan built with a clinician who already knows your story.

Guide is where LIGHT™ stops being solitary. You sit down, virtually, with a menopause-trained practitioner from the Effica Health clinical team who has already reviewed your information before you arrive. No rushing. No repeating yourself.

With insured menopause care, your care team uses that time to understand what you’re experiencing, assess your symptoms and work with you on appropriate treatment and next steps.

With Health Span, you have a dedicated 60-minute consultation to go further, exploring the broader picture of your health and shaping a personalized plan for what you want to address now and in the years ahead.

Menopause Symptom Assessment & Treatment

What happens here

  • Your Collaborative Care Practitioner takes the time to listen, explore your symptoms, history and concerns, provide menopause education, answer your questions and help prepare you for your medical assessment with the physician.
  • Your Effica physician then completes your menopause assessment, discusses evidence-based treatment options with you, and determines appropriate prescriptions, investigations, referrals and medical follow-up. *
  • Following your assessment, a comprehensive assessment summary and treatment plan is sent to your referring physician, helping connect your Effica care with your ongoing primary care.

REFERRAL REQUIRED · PROVINCIALLY INSURED FOR ELIGIBLE PATIENTS

Behind the step

Your Collaborative Care Practitioner and physician work from the same comprehensive intake and Effica Clinical Intelligence™ analysis, so your care team begins with more of your story already understood.

This pathway is focused on what provincial health insurance is designed to cover: the medical assessment and treatment of your perimenopause or menopause symptoms and appropriate medical follow-up.

How long

You spend dedicated time with your Collaborative Care Practitioner, followed by your Effica physician for your medical assessment and treatment. *

Menopause + Health Span

What happens here

  • Your menopause care is only part of the conversation.
  • You spend 60 minutes one-on-one with your Collaborative Care Practitioner, using the insights from your comprehensive intake and Effica Clinical Intelligence™ to explore not only what you are experiencing now, but the broader picture of your health.
  • Together, you look more deeply at prevention and future health risks, screening, nutrition, movement, sleep, lifestyle, behaviour, emotional well-being, sexual and pelvic health, and what matters most to you as you age.
  • Your practitioner helps you understand your risks and priorities, provides education, explores where changes in behaviour and lifestyle could make a meaningful difference, and works with you to turn what you have learned into realistic, personalized actions.
  • When additional expertise could help, your practitioner can also help connect you with non-insured experts in areas such as nutrition, CBT and behavioural health, sexual health, pelvic health and fitness.
  • Your Effica physician provides your menopause assessment and treatment, including prescriptions, investigations and medical follow-up when clinically appropriate. *
  • You receive a detailed, personalized Health Span report and follow-up plan that brings together your findings, priorities, recommendations and next steps. If you choose, a summary can also be shared with your primary care provider.

NO REFERRAL REQUIRED · INCLUDES NON-INSURED SERVICES

Behind the step

Your physician leads your medical menopause assessment and treatment. * Your Collaborative Care Practitioner works alongside you on the broader picture: helping you understand your health, identify what matters most, translate recommendations into realistic action, and connect the right expertise and support around you.

How long

Your Health Span experience includes a dedicated 60-minute consultation with your Collaborative Care Practitioner, plus your physician-led Menopause Symptom Assessment & Treatment. *

H04

Step — Heal

Your plan becomes care.

Understanding what is happening is important. Doing something about it is what comes next. Heal is where your assessment and care plan are put into action: from menopause treatment and medical follow-up to the broader lifestyle, behavioural and preventive actions identified through Health Span. What happens here depends on the care you need and the pathway you have chosen.

Menopause Symptom Assessment & Treatment

What happens here

  • Your Effica physician works with you to put your menopause treatment plan into action. *
  • That may include prescription treatment, menopausal hormone therapy or non-hormonal options when appropriate, as well as investigations, referrals or other medically necessary care based on your individual needs.
  • When follow-up is medically necessary, your Effica physician can continue to assess your response to treatment, address side effects or changing symptoms, review relevant investigations and adjust your treatment as appropriate.
  • When your menopause care is stable, your care can transition back to your family physician or primary care provider, supported by the comprehensive assessment summary and treatment plan Effica provides.

REFERRAL REQUIRED · PROVINCIALLY INSURED FOR ELIGIBLE PATIENTS

Behind the step

Treatment is individualized and evidence-based. Your physician considers your symptoms, health history, risks, preferences and the information identified through your assessment and Effica Clinical Intelligence™ when determining appropriate treatment.

How long

There is no predetermined course of medical treatment.

Medically necessary follow-up is provided based on your clinical needs, with care transitioned back to your primary care provider when appropriate. *

Menopause + Health Span

What happens here

  • Your menopause treatment is put into action alongside the broader Health Span plan you developed with your Collaborative Care Practitioner.
  • Your Effica physician manages the medical aspects of your menopause care, including appropriate prescriptions, investigations and medical follow-up. *
  • At the same time, your Collaborative Care Practitioner helps you begin acting on the priorities identified through your Health Span assessment, including prevention, nutrition, movement, sleep, behaviour, emotional well-being, sexual and pelvic health and other factors that can influence your health now and as you age.
  • This is not simply a list of things you should do. Your practitioner helps you determine what to work on, where to start and how to make changes realistic and sustainable.
  • When specialized support would help, we can connect you with non-insured experts such as dietitians, CBT and behavioural health practitioners, sexual health experts, pelvic health practitioners and fitness professionals.

NO REFERRAL REQUIRED · INCLUDES NON-INSURED SERVICES

Behind the step

Health Span brings medical menopause treatment together with prevention, behaviour and lifestyle intervention. Your physician manages your medical treatment. * Your Collaborative Care Practitioner helps you turn the broader plan into action and connect the pieces of your care.

How long

Your initial Personalized Healthspan Consult gives you a detailed report, personalized plan and clear priorities for what comes next.

You can choose to continue with ongoing Health Span support to help implement your plan, work on behaviour and lifestyle changes, access additional expertise and adjust your priorities as your health and life change.

T05

Step — Thrive

Care that stays with you.

Your health does not stop changing after one assessment, and your care should not either. Thrive is Effica's ongoing Membership experience: beginning with your comprehensive Personalized Healthspan Consult and menopause assessment, then staying with you as you put your plan into action, make changes, encounter new challenges and work toward better health over time. It is one connected care experience, with a team that knows your story and helps you keep moving forward.

What happens here

  • Start with the complete picture. Your Membership begins with your comprehensive Personalized Healthspan Consult and physician-led Menopause Symptom Assessment & Treatment, including your personalized report, priorities and plan.
  • Three additional 60-minute Health Span consultations. Throughout your Membership, you have three additional 60-minute one-on-one consultations with your Collaborative Care Practitioner to review your progress, work through challenges, revisit your priorities and evolve your plan as your health and life change.
  • Four expert consultations, chosen around your needs. Your plan includes four consultations with non-insured regulated health providers with expertise in areas that matter to you, such as nutrition, pelvic health, sexual health, behavioural coaching, fitness and other specialized areas of support.
  • Direct messaging with your care team. Ask questions, share updates and get support between scheduled appointments from a team that already understands your history, priorities and plan.
  • Care coordination when you need it. Your Collaborative Care Practitioner helps connect the pieces, coordinating with your broader care team and helping facilitate physician involvement when a medical issue requires assessment or treatment.
  • Proactive monitoring, not just appointments. We continue to follow your health, progress and priorities over time, helping identify when something needs attention, when your plan should change or when another member of your care team should be involved.

Behind the step

Your Collaborative Care Practitioner remains at the centre of your Health Span care, helping you implement your plan, supporting behaviour and lifestyle change, coordinating additional expertise and keeping the broader picture of your health in view.

Your expert practitioners bring deeper support where you need it. And when a medical need arises, your care can be coordinated with an Effica physician or your existing primary care team as appropriate. *

How long

Your Membership is designed as a 12-month care experience.

Your plan evolves with you throughout the year, because the goal is not simply to give you recommendations. It is to help you act on them, adapt them and make them part of your life.
