Better menopause care, built to work together.

Effica brings focused menopause expertise, Clinical Intelligence and collaborative care together to help women access evidence-based care, while keeping the healthcare professionals they already trust connected.

We work within Canada's healthcare system, not around it.

We can do better for women, together.

For more than three decades, my work in women's health has shown me both how far menopause care has come and how much opportunity remains.

As a clinician, educator and researcher, a past president of the Canadian Menopause Society, and a contributor to Canadian clinical guidelines, I have spent much of my career thinking about not only what the evidence tells us, but how we translate that evidence into care that works for women and the clinicians who care for them.

Menopause makes that particularly challenging.

It doesn't fit neatly into a single symptom, appointment or area of medicine. A woman may talk to her family physician about hot flashes, her pharmacist about medications, a physiotherapist about pelvic health, or another provider about sleep, mood or changes she doesn't yet recognize as connected.

Each provider may see an important piece. The opportunity is to bring those pieces together.

That is a large part of why we built Effica.

We combine evidence-based clinical care with a structured approach to understanding a woman's symptoms, history, risks and priorities, supported by technology that helps bring the broader picture together while keeping clinical judgement where it belongs, with the clinician.

And we designed Effica to work with the healthcare system, not around it.

I don't believe the answer is another silo of women's healthcare. The opportunity is to connect the expertise that already exists, make specialized menopause care easier to reach, and give women clearer pathways through it.

Whether you refer a patient, create a pathway into care or partner with us to reach more women, you become part of that effort.

Because better menopause care isn't something any one of us can deliver alone.

The Effica model

More context before the clinical encounter begins.

A woman can arrive with years of symptoms, medications, screening, changing periods, family history, health risks and unanswered questions.

LIGHT™ and Effica Clinical Intelligence™ bring relevant information together before the clinical encounter, transforming fragmented health information into structured clinical context.

That means the clinician can spend less of the encounter discovering the picture and more of it doing what requires clinical expertise: questioning, interpreting, assessing and deciding what should happen next.

Evidence

Current research and established clinical guidance underpin the model.

Intelligence

Technology structures information and helps surface relevant context and relationships.

Expertise

Qualified clinicians interpret the information and apply professional judgement.

The woman

Her experience, priorities, concerns and preferences remain central to her care.

Technology supports clinical judgement. It never replaces it.

Built to work with Canada's healthcare system

We add expertise. We keep care connected.

Effica is not designed to replace a woman's existing healthcare team.

Where eligible, medically necessary menopause assessment and treatment are provided through provincial health insurance. Women can also choose optional, non-insured Health Span and other services that extend beyond the scope of publicly insured care.

When a woman is referred to Effica, we provide focused menopause assessment and care within our scope, identify when other investigation or expertise is needed, and communicate relevant clinical information back to the referring provider.

Her family physician remains her family physician. Her existing healthcare professionals remain part of her care. Effica adds focused expertise and helps connect the pieces around her.

Referring providers

When menopause needs a closer look.

You don't need to become a menopause specialist to recognize when a patient may benefit from focused menopause assessment and care.

Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and, where provincial requirements permit, eligible allied health professionals can refer women to Effica.

You refer. We provide focused expertise. You remain part of her healthcare team.

What happens when you refer?

Simple, connected & comprehensive.

01

Refer

Submit the referral with your patient's consent.

02

We connect with her

Our team contacts her directly and guides her through what comes next.

03

We build the clinical picture

She completes Effica's structured intake and Clinical Intelligence brings together relevant symptoms, history and health information.

04

Collaborative care, followed by medical assessment

Your patient spends dedicated time with one of our Collaborative Care Practitioners, a menopause-trained RN or Clinical Pharmacist who explores her symptoms and concerns, provides education and helps clarify her priorities. A clinical summary is then prepared for the Effica physician, who conducts the medical assessment and determines appropriate treatment, investigations, referrals and follow-up.

05

We close the loop

Your patient returns to your care with a clear path forward. We provide you with a comprehensive assessment summary and treatment plan, including relevant findings, treatment initiated, investigations or referrals, and recommended follow-up.

When ongoing menopause follow-up is needed, Effica can provide it while keeping you informed and connected to her care.

Refer a patient

Give your patient access to focused menopause expertise.

Referral pathways and eligibility vary by province. Our team will confirm the appropriate pathway, connect directly with your patient and keep you informed of relevant clinical outcomes.

More pathways into care. More women reached.

Women don't encounter menopause only in medical clinics. Pharmacies, health and wellness providers, community organizations and women's health organizations can all be important pathways to evidence-based care.

We partner with organizations that want to improve awareness, navigation and access, while ensuring clinical care remains in the hands of qualified healthcare professionals.
